Victorian High Tea in English Gardens

“There were no cucumbers in the market this morning... not even for ready money”
– Oscar Wilde, Importance of Being Earnest

Each Fall, English Literary Studies majors and minors enjoy a popular Department tradition: Victorian High Tea in Professor Robinson’s English gardens, complete with coy pond. Students, staff, faculty, and returning alumni enjoy walking the garden mazes, playing croquet, sipping tea, and getting tips from upper-class mentors or just chatting with friends. This proper tea includes English scones with clotted creme, lemon curd, lemon cake, bakewell tarts, and of course, cucumber sandwiches. The pictures below are from Fall 2017.
