Undergraduate Senior Events
Relax and unwind at the end of the semester with all the events that lead up to the commencement ceremony.
Wednesday, April 17th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. - A Commencement Fair will take place in the Global Heritage Hall Atrium. The fair will feature different departments and vendors relating to Commencement and Commencement Ball. You will also have an opportunity to pick-up your Commencement tickets at the fair!
Countdown to Commencement Week
April 22nd - 27th - The Bookstore will hold its annual week-long event for graduating students! All graduates are encouraged to come into the Bookstore during this time to pick up their regalia and take advantage of the "in-store" special offers which include: raffles for diploma frames, class ring discounts, and a one (1) time discount off clothing [a special coupon is provided during "pickup"] for this week only! The Bookstore will continue to distribute caps and gowns every day from the start of this week to up until the day before Commencement - Friday, May 17.
Wednesday, May 8th at 4:00 p.m. - Located in the North Campus Residence Hall Great Room. The Queer and Trans Resource and Advocacy Center is pleased to announce the second annual Lavender Graduation here at Roger Williams University. Lavender Graduations at universities all throughout the country and serve as an inspiring and affirming way for us to celebrate the successes of LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual, pansexual, intersex, non binary, and gender nonconforming) students. This event will create space for our LGBTQ+ students, their families, and their friends to gather one last time and to reflect on their growth throughout their time here at Roger. Please read this article to learn more about the first Lavender Graduation that took place on campus in May 2018.

Senior Commencement Ball
Saturday, May 11th - Commencement Ball for the undergraduate students of the Class of 2019 will be held at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Ticket sales will begin in April. Information on tickets and hotel rooms will be sent out via email from the Senior Class. Wednesday, May 15th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. - Interim President Workman will host a special reception for graduates at the University Residence. Enjoy an evening celebrating your accomplishments with your fellow classmates! Appetizers, beer and wine will be served. (ID will be required.) Shuttles will run continuously from campus to the Residence through the duration of the event. Dress attire is business casual. Due to space restrictions, this reception is for graduates only - no guests please. An RSVP will be required to attend. RSVP by May 8th to firstname.lastname@example.org or 401-254-3166.
Intercultural Center Stole Ceremony
Thursday, May 16th from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. - This is a celebration for Seniors who have shown exceptional intercultural learning, a collaborative spirit and ethics of campus inclusivity. These individuals have made extraordinary contributions to the campus community though involvement with the Intercultural Center or student groups that promote diversity, equity and inclusion at RWU. At this ceremony we bestow an Intercultural Roger Williams University Alumni Pin and/or Stole to be worn on graduation day and going forward.
Thursday, May 16th at 12:00 noon - There will be a mandatory rehearsal on in the Campus Recreation Center Fieldhouse for all graduates who will be participating in the ceremony on Saturday. All graduates must attend this rehearsal, as instructions regarding the ceremony will be given at that time.
Thursday, May 16th (following rehearsal) - Members of the undergraduate class will enjoy a barbecue in the Upper Commons. This event is free to all RWU undergraduates participating in the commencement ceremony. Given the large number of graduates, guests, family members and undergraduates who are not graduating may not attend.
Saturday, May 18th - A luncheon buffet is held in the Upper Commons following the commencement ceremony and is offered at various seating times from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. This is a wonderful way to celebrate with fellow RWU graduates and families. Reservations are required and seating is limited; first come, first serve. To reserve a table, and to view pricing information and menus, visiting the Dining website HERE.
