Multimedia Streaming Options

RWU has a range of options for streaming media available for faculty and students. Your goals and comfort level with the technologies dictate the best options for you. If you'd like a consultation about media options, you may contact the IT Classroom and Event Support via e-mail at or via phone at (401) 254.3157. You may also contact a member of the CSALT2 Instructional Design & Technologies team via e-mail at or via phone at (401) 254.3187.

Some of the choices available to faculty and students include:

Panopto Video Capture

The University has a site license for Panopto Video Capture that allows faculty and students to download the Panopto Recorder to their Windows or Mac computer and create their own narrated videos using their computers, iPads or iPhones. Panopto is fully integrated into the Bridges system. The videos are uploaded, rendered and streamed from the Panopto streaming server and links to the videos can be distributed via e-mail or stored within Bridges courses, project sites or e-portfolios. Content can be re-purposed as MPEG-4 Movies or MP3 audio podcasts. Users may subscribe to their folders in either iTunes or using RSS. For more information on this application please see the Panopto Support site

Google Video

Faculty may also have their media distributed from the RWU Google Drive managed by Information Technology's Classroom and Event  (ITCES) support team. This server converts and stores videos from a variety of formats and streams them in links that are easily accessible. If you would like more information on using the RWU Google Drive, please contact IT Classroom and Event Support via e-mail at or via phone at (401) 254.3157

Students can upload and stream their videos from their own RWU Google Drive. This is a feature included with the RWU Google Apps for Education and is easy to use.
