Women's Center

The Roger Williams University Women's Center, located next to the 9, 10, 11 Tower of Maple Hall, serves as a support and resource area for all students.  Members of the Women's Center meet weekly to develop awareness programs and other educational opportunities for the Roger Williams campus community.  Exploring current issues facing women, this group also serves as a support network.

Women's Center sponsored programs include... "The Breakfast Club: Conversations With Wonderful Women", an annual Take Back the Night March, participation in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, the RWU Outstanding Women Campaign and most recently, a student benefit production of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues".

The Women's Center is also responsible for bringing high quality performances to campus such as "PlayRights" educational theater, Gerri Bribi's "Musical Romp Through Women's History" and Nancy Crimmin's "When Love Hurts".

Silent Witness Project

In March of 2002, the RWU Women's Center created a chapter of the Rhode Island Silent Witness Project, honoring the lives of women and children murdered in acts of domestic violence.  The RWU chapter is one of the most active college chapters of this initiative in the country.

ALL students are invited to join the Women's Center.  Contact the Women's Center at x3294 or Jen Stanley at x3161 for more information.
