University Housing

Home is where the heart is, and at Roger Williams we believe your home away from home should be just as welcoming. With traditional residence hall rooms reserved for freshman and some sophomores, and suites and apartment-style living for upperclassmen, housing opportunities are endless. Stay tuned for our newest residence hall, opening in fall 2009, which will feature a lounge area with amenities ranging from pool tables to a coffee house and convenience store.

New to RWU?

As an incoming student, you will receive a username and password for myRWU – our internal web portal at Roger Williams University – after you submit your tuition deposit. Through myRWU, you can fill out your Housing Preference Questionnaire. Once you receive your housing assignment, you can make changes to your meal plan selection anytime before the second week of classes.

The University offers housing options for a variety of preference and lifestyles—from individual units to coed residence halls. The halls are fully wired for Internet access, and many feature lounges, study rooms, air conditioning and reserved space for students with special needs or interests.

Four of our on-campus halls overlook the waters of Mount Hope Bay and feature spectacular in-room views. Roger Williams also offers off-campus housing in a supervised environment via the University-operated Almeida Apartments and at Baypoint, just 2 miles from campus.

A new 350-bed residence hall is underway in the northern portion of the RWU campus. Scheduled for completion in August 2009, the 120,000-square-foot facility will provide 350 beds, study areas, retail/cafe and lounge space in addition to the new beds, some of the other spaces should relieve overcrowding on campus and lack of common gathering spaces. RWU is pursuing LEED certification for the new residence hall.  View progress of the construction live here.

The Roger Williams Student Affairs Office supervises a staff of trained resident assistants and residence education coordinators to help establish and enforce the policies governing dorm living. Resident assistants serve as unit leaders, disciplinarians, program facilitators and student advocates. This approach promotes and facilitates self-government, self-discipline and the acceptance of adult responsibility.

Whatever your preference, the University has a facility to match, and from the minute you settle in your dorm, you will start to feel at home.
