AlcoholEdu

AlcoholEdu for College, an on-line, science-based, alcohol course used on over 500 campuses nationwide is once again being required of all incoming freshmen students.

Feedback from last year’s freshmen was so positive (80% found it helpful; 77% would recommend it to others) that Roger Williams University has made the commitment to offer it again. Eighty-three percent (83%) of last year’s freshmen said that it helped them feel more prepared to handle situations that might come up in college that involve alcohol and decisions around drinking. AlcoholEdu is only one part of RWU’s comprehensive alcohol prevention program.

The course has two sections, both of which must be completed to fulfill this requirement:

Part 1

  • Part 1 of the course will be available online the week of August 11, 2008. Part 1 of the course takes approximately 3 hours to complete and can be taken in multiple sittings. Part 1 has 4 ModulesPart 1 is completed only after taking the Exam and Survey 2. You must earn a grade of 75% or higher to pass and receive credit for the course. You have two weeks to complete Part 1. We require that you finish Part 1 before arriving at RWU. The deadline is Thursday August 21.  AlcoholEdu needs to be completed in order to check-in on Friday August 22.
  • About 45 days after you complete Part 1, you will receive an email asking you to complete Part 2. This takes only about 30 minutes. You must complete Part 2 immediately following your email invitation.  If you do not complete Part 2 by Friday Oct 17 your registration for spring housing will be cancelled.

Please note that the course includes three surveys that measure students’ alcohol-related attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are strictly confidential; the school will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will never see individual students’ answers.
