Policies

Show your commitment to the program and the mentees.
Be punctual for all programs, activities and trips.*
Be respectful toward one another and each other's property at all times.
At all times maintain honest communication with all program participants & staff.
No cursing or gossiping at any time (remember, we are role models).
Uphold a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher each semester.*
Meetings and assigned shifts for tutoring are mandatory.
Maintain the attendance policy.*
Formal Mentor Training is mandatory!
Any kind of disrespectful behavior will be considered an infraction of program rules and may lead to suspension/termination.
Timesheets are the mentor's responsibility. They must be filled out correctly and turned in no later than 3:00 pm of the Friday preceding the pay period. Failure to do so will result in no pay for that pay period!
All program guidelines must be heeded by BTS mentors. Any infraction of the guidelines may lead to suspension/termination as determined by the Program Director.

Mentors must be ON TIME for all scheduled mentoring/tutoring sessions or any other activities.
2 tardies will result in a meeting with the program director.
The 3rd tardy will result in ONE HOUR docked pay. Additional tardies may result in termination.
Consideration will be taken for those coming directly from class.
All meetings, events, tutoring/mentoring sessions will have a 10 MINUTE grace period.

All mentors must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher, at all times.
A mentor who falls below a cumulative 2.5 GPA will automatically be put on academic probation with in the BTS Program because strong academics is an integral part of being an effective role model/mentor.
This suspension results in a probationary period that lasts for one semester.
A letter will be sent to inform you of your infraction.
Two meetings between yourself and the Program Director must be set up and attended by you, immediately after receipt of the probation letter.
If your cumulative GPA has not reached a minimum of 2.5 after the probationary semester your position as mentor will be terminated until you have maintained a 2.5 for at least one semester.

Three absences without notification/approval to the program director will result in possible termination from BTS.

All calls regarding missing work shift/meetings must be made to x3317 no later than 8pm, the evening before the pending absence.
Emergency absences will be discussed on a case by case basis with the Program Director at x3764.
