The Roger Williams University's Bridge To Success Program (BTS), founded in 1993 through a grant from the Balfour Foundation, partners with select Newport and Providence high schools and service organizations to promote the development of academic, social and emotional support systems for high school students in under-resourced communities. Over the past decade-and-a-half, BTS has provided academic tutoring, student-to-student mentoring, intensive college prep, and parental outreach to hundreds of high school students throughout Rhode Island.
Goals
To provide middle and high school students/families in under-resourced communities with the tools, skills and knowledge needed to achieve academic success toward admission into Roger Williams University or any other four-year college/university of their choice. The Mentees provide RWU undergrads (particularly those in the School of Education) with unprecedented hands-on field experience with students and families in under-resourced communities through community engagement with participating schools and community collaborations, and in our residential and on-site programs.
