The Youth Crime Watch seminar is designed for officers (and teachers) working in the schools or community centers in programs such as School Resource Officer, D.A.R.E., Community Works, etc. and will provide them with the information, tools, and skills they need in order to start a Youth Crime Watch in their perspective city or town.

Youth Crime Watch was founded on the principle that youth, provided the education and support they need, will rise to the task of taking responsibility for the safety and welfare of where they live and learn, and that they can be very effective in reducing social ills.  Youth Crime Watch is a student-led crime prevention initiative that enlists the entire school in the “watch out/help out” mode of crime prevention.  In this model, students engage in customized components which can include crime reporting; school patrols; crime, drug, and violence prevention education; mentoring; peer and cross-age teaching; conflict resolution; mediation; action projects; and bus safety.
