This one-day Rhode Island specific seminar has been designed for new Police Department Prosecution Officers and Supervisory Officers who perform similar duties within their respective agency. Participants will receive instruction related to the District Court criminal complaint charging process, police station and court house arraignment procedures including issues of setting bail as well as defendant bail and probation violations, responding to defense counsel Discovery requests, pre-trial processes including recommendations for dispositions, and District Court trial issues. The program presented by Pamela Chin, Esquire, Assistant Attorney General for the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General and Captain James Desmarais, Esquire, former Commander of the Providence Police Department Prosecution Unit currently assigned to the Investigative Bureau, will provide practical advice for police officials who may be newly assigned and will serve as a refresher for those officers with previous experience.
