Marine Economy Forum
Promoting New England's Marine Economy: Challenges and Opportunities

Introduction

On April 2, 2007, the New England Council and Roger Williams University joined forces to convene key experts and policymakers to discuss one of New England's most versatile and extraordinary resources--its relationship to the sea.

The conference, which featured Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed as Keynote and former Clinton administration Chief of Staff Leon E. Panetta as opening speaker, brought together leading experts in industry and business, education, public policy and local and regional officials. This forum was intended to kick off a continuing initiative to define, protect and promote an economic sector that is so critical to New England's vitality.
