Historical Research Assistant – Community Partnerships Center

Job Description: 

Students will assist the CPC with historical research on projects in Central Falls, Pawtucket, and other sites around the state. Students will be responsible for compiling research and drafting well-written, cohesive research reports for community partners. Students should have experience in archival research, online research, interview techniques, and other research practices. Students should have their own transportation if they need to leave campus for research purposes. Students should have a positive attitude and be comfortable working in both independent and team settings.  Students should be comfortable working in a professional setting and be able to adhere to guidelines and schedules.  Students should have strong written and oral communication skills, be well organized, and work well in a high-energy, fast paced environment.  Flexible work schedule and open to student creativity. Student should be entering their sophomore, junior, senior or graduate years and be familiar with the work of the CPC. Students should have a positive attitude and be comfortable working in both independent and team settings.  Students should be able to adhere to guidelines and schedules.  Students should have strong written and oral communication skills, be well organized, and work well in a high-energy, fast paced environment. Student will be asked to attend monthly staff meetings with other student staff.

Special Skills: 
Experience in historical research, archival research, online research and research methods necessary. Strong writing skills needed. Comfortable visiting libraries, historical societies, and other businesses to obtain research and documentation. Student should have their own transportation. Student available locally to start July 1 would be preferred as we prepare for the fall semester.
Academic Major Preferred: 
Sophomore-Graduate level student in Historic Preservation, History, American Studies, English, Writing Studies.
