In the Office of Public Affairs, we coordinate the production of a number of communications vehicles designed to trumpet the achievements of the Roger Williams community, both internally and beyond our campus. These include on-campus publications like the Daily Dose, myRWU, President’s Update and the news portion of the University web site. And they include media advisories, news releases and targeted media pitches to generate coverage of Roger Williams by regional, national and international news organizations.

With so many events, achievements and successes on campus, we can’t guarantee that every news bit will be covered in depth. But we can guarantee you one thing: If we don’t know about it, we can’t publicize it! Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:

• Blow your horn. Often. Loudly. Tell us about your achievements, research, awards and honors. Books published. Travels.
  
  
• Keep us informed about student-faculty research collaborations.
  
  
• Alert us to interesting human interest stories about yourself, your colleagues or students.
  
  
• Answer our media query requests quickly. Take coaching if you aren't experienced. Please stay on message. You'll be glad you did.
  
  
• Send information about yourself that we can include in our experts directory.
  
  
• Update your department experts lists regularly.
  
  
• Let us advertise your events. Notify us of your events as soon as you have a date so that we can post it immediately on our Events Calendar.
  
  
• Understand the guidelines for the Daily Dose, and be sure to e-mail the full information no later than noon the day before your event takes place.
  
  
• Work with us, and we can put you on the map!
