‘The Woman in Black’ Ready to Haunt the Stage at Roger Williams
BRISTOL, R.I., March 2008 – When a solicitor attends a funeral for an elderly widow, he soon becomes entangled in the mystery of the woman in black. The haunting tale of “The Woman in Black” will unfold on the Performing Arts Center stage at Roger Williams University in late March.
Set in the flat salt marshes in eastern England, “The Woman in Black” was adapted by British playwright Stephen Mallatratt from the 1983 horror novel of the same name by British author Susan Hill.
“The production ought to be a real treat using a few great tricks,” said Karl Pelletier, the play’s director and a senior theater major. “Mysteriously mobile rocking chairs, creaky doors and bumps in the night are a few of the terrors to be expected in this show. I think that people should not miss out on this amazing, high-quality experience that is sure to have a few scream-out-loud moments!”
Performances will run Friday and Saturday, March 28 and 29, at 8 p.m. The Performing Arts Center is located on the University’s Bristol campus at One Old Ferry Road.
Tickets cost $4 for general admission and $2 for students and senior citizens. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Theater Box Office at (401) 254-3666.
