The Real Inspector Hound’ Will Take the Stage at Roger Williams’ Barn Summer Playhouse
BRISTOL, R.I., June 2008 – “The Real Inspector Hound,” one of playwright Tom Stoppard’s funniest and most performed works, will take the stage at Roger Williams University’s Performing Arts Center in June.
“The Real Inspector Hound” is an uproarious jab at the theater and revolves around feuding theater critics—one a fusty philanderer, the other a pompous, vindictive second-stringer—who are swept into the whodunit play they are viewing. In the hilarious Agatha Christie-esque melodramatic parody, the critics become dangerously implicated in the lethal activities of an escaped madman as everyone tries to discover the real inspector hound.
“This play is so easy to love because we get to make fun of ourselves and our profession,” said Robin Stone, director of “The Real Inspector Hound” and assistant professor of theater at Roger Williams University. “Anyone who is fond of the theater will find this play instantly funny and clever.”
The cast includes Mick Jones, Lindsey Meyers, Melanie Snow, Dorisa Boggs, Obadiah Kelley, Jay Miscia, Mandie Hittleman and Chad Morin.
Performances will run June 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28, at 8 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center located on the University’s Bristol campus at One Old Ferry Road. Tickets cost $10 for general admission and $5 for students and senior citizens.
