Dr. Sarah Weddington
RWU School of Law to Host Roe v. Wade Attorney

Roger Williams University School of Law will host women’s rights speaker and attorney Sarah Weddington. Weddington, who successfully argued the landmark Supreme Court case, Roe v. Wade, at the tender age of 26, went on to be the first woman from Austin ever elected to the Texas House of Representatives, and later served as an assistant to President Jimmy Carter. She is the author of A Question of Choice, and currently teaches at the University of Texas.

Dr. Sarah Weddington will serve as the next prominent speaker at Roger Williams University School of Law’s Fifth Annual Women in Law Day, on April 9th, 1:00 p.m. at the Appellate Courtroom at the RWU School of Law. The free event is open to the public, however seating is limited.
 
Weddington, who is particularly well-known for her work on issues affecting women through her many roles which include attorney, legislator, presidential adviser and professor has received numerous honors and awards including one of Time Magazine’s "Outstanding Young American Leaders" and was also selected as one of the 10 "Outstanding Women in America." In addition, she has been featured in such publications as Working Women, People Magazine, and the Washington Post, and has appeared as a guest on such programs as The Today Show, Good Morning America, and CBS Morning News.
