This summer Roger Williams University (RWU) will again hold summer sailing camp sessions on beautiful Mount Hope Bay at their waterfront campus located on their main campus. They will hold five sessions in total; two separate sessions designated towards adult sailing, two separate sessions for youth beginners and one for youth intermediate sailing.
Adults
- The adult lessons are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
- The first session starts on June 30 and ends on July 16 and the second session begins on July 21 and ends on August 6.
Youths
- The youth sessions are for those ages 12-16 years old.
- All the youth sessions run Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
- The first beginner youth session is from June 29th to July 10th and the second beginner one is from July 13th to July 24th.
- The intermediate youth sailing camp session will be from July 27 to August 7th.
The students will be taught in Flying Junior boats, which are a 2-3-person boat that has two sails and are 13 feet long. At the summer sailing camp students will learn everything from seamanship to sailing techniques. No experience is necessary for beginner classes and the all spaces for the summer camps sessions come on a first come first serve basis. The Adult summer camps will cost $200 per session and the youth camps will cost $300 per session. Any returning adult campers will receive 50% off their session fee.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn to sail and experience one of Rhode Island’s favorite pastimes. Proceeds from camp help supports the University Sailing Team.
