Student Employment
If you have been granted workstudy through your FAFSA financial aid package, you will earn the predetermined hourly rate for your work within the intramural-recreation department. Available Positions
Supervisor
- Attend/Work all Intramural Department meetings & special events.
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to game time.
- Set-up & break down of game site ie: balls, tables, pinnies, flip charts etc.
- Supervise the event and all the Student employees.
- Delegate - who will officiate & score which games, be fair and ensure equal rotation.
- Ask workers if anyone is participating in a game that night; it is acceptable and we encourage employees to play intramurals, but it does not alleviate them of their responsibilities. They must work around their games!
- Turn on/off lights on Paolino Field when necessary.
- Discuss all weather related cancellation with game officials and Intramural Coordinator.
- We will play through a light rain, but at any sign of lighting the game is immediately postponed.
- Start all games on time, which means you must have scorers & timers complete score sheets, hand out pinnies ahead of game time.
- Teams have 10 minutes after scheduled game time before it is called a forfeit. A complete incident report if the game is called (addressed in later section) must be filled out.
- Do everything possible to play the game. However, if the game is called a forfeit, the team that did show may use the court/field for the time allotted.
- Respond to injuries/accidents as needed (addressed in later section). Complete injury/accident reports.
- Fill out Incidents Reports, ie: forfeits, protests, fights etc. (addressed in later section).
- Return all equipment-to-the Intramural locker in the same condition as it was picked up.
- Complete nightly supervisor report.
Return reports, and score sheets to the Intramural Office.
- Other duties as assigned by the Intramural Director/Coordinator.
- Candidates are typically experienced intramural workers with a thorough knowledge of the sport.
- CPR/First Aid - preferred
- Must have leadership skills, accountability & proper attitude.
- Night & weekend work required
Official
- Examine game site for any unsafe playing conditions. If able, correct the situation or report it to the Supervisor.
- Fairly officiate Intramural games.
- Keep games under control and provide a safe atmosphere for Intramural participants to enjoy activity.
- Settle disputes during the game or report to Supervisor serious violation.
- Officials/Supervisors have the ability to stop any activity or eject an individual player.
- If game is stopped or player ejected complete Incident report.
- Knowledge of rules is important.
- Attend all trainings, clinics, meeting.
- Evening and weekend work required.
Timer-Scorer
- Attend/work all Intramural Department meetings & Special events.
- Report to playing area 15 minutes prior to game time.
- Sign in all participants onto score sheet.
Hand out pinnies prior to game & collect after.
- Start game on time!
- Timers - while the clock general runs for most events, stop time incase of injury, timeouts, last minute of each half.
- Notify teams of time remaining at 5 min intervals, last minute every 10 sec., 10 sec count down at the end of each period. Be loud!
- Keep accurate score & time, pay attention.
- If team forfeits, state which team on score sheet.
- In case of protest, that can not be resolved with officials & supervisor, write down reason for protest on the back of score sheet, in as much detail as possible.
- At the conclusion of each event make sure score sheet is complete, circle winning team and clearly state the final score.
- Make sure supervisor has sport binder at the conclusion of shift.
- Knowledge of sports a bonus but not required.
- Enthusiastic, good attitude is important.
- Night & weekend work required.
