What is the Alumni Supporting Admissions Program (A.S.A.P.)?
The Alumni Supporting Admissions Program (A.S.A.P.) at Roger Williams University allows alumni the opportunity to utilize their time, talent, and geographic location to assist in the recruitment of new students. The existence of such a program provides Roger Williams University with a larger pool of highly qualified students, yet most importantly, it provides the alumni with a stronger relationship to the alma mater.
What can I do?
The opportunities to become involved in A.S.A.P. are endless. Involvement can be as simple as updating college material in your son/daughter's high school or as extravagant as hosting receptions for accepted students at your home. For example, you could choose to adopt a local area high school. In doing so, you would develop a relationship with guidance counselors who could recommend top candidates to be considered for admission to RWU.
The A.S.A.P. member would forward a personal note to the candidate, and then serve as a liaison between both parties over the course of the recruitment season. The ultimate goal in this example is to have the student enroll in Roger Williams University.
Why should I get involved?
Becoming a member of A.S.A.P. can be very rewarding, not only for you, but also the prospective student. All involved parties, the alumni, prospective student, and college in general, receive a tremendous sense of gratification when a student enrolls. Many alumni don't even know, but your essentially already a member. Have you ever called the Admissions office to get information for a college bound child in your neighborhood? Or maybe you told a coworker about the upcoming Open House and then you personally drove to Bristol with this person and his/her child. Many alumni are already doing these and many more A.S.A.P. initiatives!
