Application Requirements
Postponing Enrollment
A student may defer admission to Roger Williams University for a period of one or two semesters, but the student may defer only once. Students may defer only if an offer of admission has been made and a tuition deposit has been submitted.
Request for deferrals must be made in writing no later than September 1 (of the original start term) for Fall and January 15 for Spring.
The letter of request (or email) must include an explanation of why the request is being made, the students name, social security number, new intended start term, and must be accompanied by a $200 tuition deposit (if not already submitted). A housing deposit is not required but must be submitted by May 1 (for Fall) or December 1 (for Spring), along with all applicable forms.
A one-time deferral is allowed per applicant; multiple deferrals are not permitted. A deferral is reserved for special circumstances and should not be used to hold a place for students enrolling at another institution; deferred students may not enroll (or continue enrollment) at another college or university on a full-time basis, though they may elect to take a course or two. If they are an international student that is deferring as a result of visa/immigration issues, they are permitted to enroll on a full-time basis at another institution.
Students must submit all updated credentials before enrolling for the new term. Deferred students will get an updated welcome packet and letter shortly after the start of the review period for the new intended semester of enrollment. In many cases, merit scholarships that were offered may still be honored.
Deferrals forfeit all deposits, should they, at any point, decide not to enroll.
