Application Requirements
Entrance Exams
SAT/ACT
The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) or the American College Test (ACT) is required only for international students studying in a United States high school or in an international high school overseas with a U. S. based curriculum. SAT scores are recommended for consideration for RWU International Scholarships and for the University Honors Program. Please see those sections for more information.
TOEFL
Roger Williams University does not require the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). International students may be admitted to RWU regardless of their English ability. Students with a TOEFL score of 550/213/79 or above may be admitted directly into their undergraduate program. Students with a TOEFL score of 500 - 547 may be admitted through the RWU ESL Bridge Program. Students with a TOEFL below 500/173/61 AND students who do not submit a TOEFL score may be admitted conditionally and directed to the ELS Language Center at RWU.
We strongly recommend that students who have taken the TOEFL submit their scores for review in order to receive the best placement for their English Level.
