Graphic Design Communications
applicants must submit a portfolio of their work.  This portfolio must consist of a minimum of twenty copies of the student's original designs.

Creative Writing applicants must submit a portfolio of their work.  This portfolio must consist of a short story and/or (3) poems, as well as a 600-900 word statement that discusses how one book has influenced the applicant as a writer.

Dance/ Performance applicants must audition in person for acceptance into the program. Auditions are by invitation only.  After a preliminary review of the student's application, the applicant will be contacted to schedule an audition.

School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation


Visual Arts Studies
applicants must submit a portfolio of their work, or other evidence of studio experience. A portfolio consists of 8-10 copies of original works. The University will not return portfolios; they become permanent parts of candidates' applications.

Architecture applicants must have completed a minimum of four years of math, including pre-calculus. Proficiency in trigonometry and physics is necessary for students to take required college-level courses in calculus and structural systems. Students who lack this proficiency are eligible to apply, but must complete the necessary course work before taking calculus and structural systems. Courses taken in preparation for calculus and structural systems will not count toward degree requirements. Applicants are admitted on the basis of academic excellence and potential in areas relevant to the profession of architecture as demonstrated by the required materials submitted for admission. 

Applicants for admission are required to submit a 8-10 piece portfolio of two and three-dimensional work showing evidence of creative ability with their applications. The portfolio should consist of a simple 8-1/2" x 11" folder containing the following: reproductions of original design projects, and reproductions of two or three-dimensional work recently executed. This work may be reduced photo-statically or may be photographed. Smaller pieces should be affixed to an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet. Portfolios may also be submitted on electronic media, prerferably CD.

The University will not return portfolios; they become a permanent part of a candidate's application. Students who do not have works from which to select and form a portfolio are encouraged to contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission for options to fulfill this requirement.
