Roger Williams University President Roy J. Nirschel, Ph.D., welcomed the members of the Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences to the University at the commencement of their 2009 Annual Meeting which was hosted by the School of Justice Studies.

Dean Stephanie Manzi, Ph.D., greeted her colleagues from throughout the region as they prepared to discuss "Contemporary Issues in Sentencing and Corrections" during the conference held June 10 - 13, 2009.

The Keynote Address, "Prisoner Re-entry Ten Years Later: A Public Policy Status Check", was delivered by A.T. Wall, Director of the Rhode Island Department of Corrections.

Julie K. Coon, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Roger Williams University discussed a research project that she and colleagues have been conducting in collaboration with the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy to develop training for Rhode Island's policing community.

Roger Williams University Assistant Professor of Legal Studies Tricia Martland, J.D., presented an overview of the "Legal Advocacy Clinic" that she developed in partnership with the District Court and the Family Court in Newport, Rhode Island, to engage undergraduate students in an experiential learning initiative.
