Command Training Series:
First Line Supervisor Course
January 23-February 3, 2006
In class:

Chief Gary Margolis, Ed.D., University of Vermont Police Services, opened the two-week course with a discussion related to the Meyers-Briggs Task Inventory completed by each student prior to the class. The survey introduces the individuals to an introspective consideration of their respective leadership and communication styles.



The introduction of data analysis as a tool for First Line Supervisors in their consideration of problem solving was addressed by Jennifer Morrison, M.S., a Lieutenant with the Burlington, VermontPolice Department.
Final Presentations:



Synthesis and application of course content was displayed as group projects analyzing the problems in the Anytown, U.S.A. case study project were presented by individual groups to their classmates, instructors and guests.
Chiefs Roundtable:

Chief Joseph Rebello of the Kingston, Massachusetts Police Department and current President of the New England Association of Chiefs of Police served as Moderator of the Chiefs' Roundtable.

Chief Thomas Tremblay of the Burlington, Vermont Police Department, Executive High Sheriff Gary Dias of the State of Rhode Island Sheriffs Department and Chief Joseph Young of the Winthrop, Maine Police Department thoughtfully responded to questions posed by the members of the class during the Chiefs' Roundtable.

Selected as class spokesperson, Sergeant Steven Courville of the Providence, Rhode Island Police Department delivers his remarks at the closing luncheon on February 3, 2006. Sergeant Courville dedicated the speech to Sergeant Steven M. Shaw of the Providence Police Department who was killed in the line-of-duty on February 3, 1994 and will always be remembered by his colleagues.
