First Line Supervisor Course

In class:

Chief Anthony Pesare, J.D., Middletown Police Department, and Professor Vincent Petronio, M.A., Universityof Rhode Island, addressed the Organizational and Interpersonal Communication issues facing First Line Supervisors



Participants were instructed on such topics as Performance Evaluations, Ethical Decision Making, Community Policing, Leadership and Management, and Labor Law.
Situational Leadership Exercises:





Under the direction of Lieutenant Denis Riel (ret.), Lincoln, RI Police Department, and Lieutenant Michael Wynn, Pittsfield, MA Police Department, the participants worked together in different situational leadership exercises.
Finals Presentations:


Working in teams, the officers used the knowledge that they gained over the two weeks in their group presentations. Each group was assigned a sector of Anytown, U.S.A. where they faced a unique problem in that area. The groups presented their proposal to their fellow classmates and invited guests.
