Prospective Students
Advisement

Students who receive quality Advising are able to successfully maneuver through their years in school.  This advice comes in two varieties; academic advice and procedural and support service advice.  The academic advice consists of choice of major, selection of courses and sequencing, information on transferability, information on academic petitions, suggestions on graduate schools or professional pursuits, research possibilities, internship options, etc.  The procedures/support services advice consists of the application process, financial aid process, registration process, bursar operations, disability services, career services, student groups, athletics, etc.

The School of Continuing Studies understands the advising needs of adult learners, your needs.  While juggling careers, families, and community responsibilities, you have decided to pursue educational goals.  Time is your biggest obstacle.  We fully understand that and our goal is to provide quality advice that is delivered in an efficient, accurate and caring manner.  Our advising model provides the necessary information in a one-stop, supportive environment thus eliminating the time and frustration associated with trial and error.

To address your unique advising needs, the SCS assigns you one advisor.  The role of this advisor is to provide you with both academic and procedural/support services advice, as well as generally assist you with the challenges of being an adult learner.  Our hope is that your Advisor becomes a trusted and valuable companion as you journey toward your academic goals.
