The School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation offers intensive 4-week Summer Academy programs in Architecture and in Visual Arts Studies for high school students who have successfully completed their junior year of study, and who are interested in considering future college level studies in these fields.
Each program offers an independent curriculum with a variety of studio, seminar and field experiences, while sharing some extracurricular activities and field trips, allowing students to understand Architecture and the Arts as independent activities while experiencing many interdisciplinary potentials. Students are advised on college admission processes in each field and portfolio development in preparation for college applications. Supervised dormitory life, with student activities programming on evenings and weekends, is included in the program.
Summer Academy students study in the School’s award-winning facilities alongside undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in School’s Summer Programs. They are encouraged to participate in our Summer Public Events Series inclusive of Lectures and Exhibitions, and a major summer event, the International Fellows Program, which brings world-renowned practitioners and scholars to campus for a two-day conference.
The 2009 Summer Academy will be offered from July 5 – August 1. The comprehensive 2009 fee is $3900, inclusive of tuition, fees, housing and meals. Applications, including a nonrefundable $300 deposit, are due by May 15, 2009. The balance is due by June 15, 2009.
Scholarships are available for the each Summer Academy Program. Scholarship applications are found under each Academy listing.
