The Visual Arts Studies program is pleased to announce our new Visiting Artist Program starting in the 2007-2008 academic season with New York artist Janet Pihlblad. Each year, the Visiting Artist Program selects prestigious artists to create work for an exhibition in the University Gallery and to mentor students throughout the year.
Janet Pihlblad, the 2007-2008 Visual Arts Studies Program Visiting Artist, is a sculptor and installation artist whose media range from organic plant-life, found text, drawings and cast bronze to interactive digital installations. Her work has been exhibited at P.P.O.W. Gallery, The New Museum, The Drawing Center, and P.S.1 in New York, and at The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, Carrie Secrest Gallery (Chicago), the Rockford Museum of Contemporary Art, and Le Fondation d’Art Contemporain and Galerie Froment & Putman, in Paris.
