First Annual St. John’s University Investment Management Conference

The Gabelli School of Business was represented at the St. John’s University First Annual Investment Management Conference on March 11, 2005. Aaron K. Kozick and Stephen M. Peters, two leading student managers for the Student Investment Management Fund, presented the investment objectives and portfolio management strategy of the Student Investment Management Fund to a crowd of students, professors, and professionals.

Dr. Michael Melton presented on the subject of the inception of the Center for Advanced Financial Education as well as the unique approach to instructing a Student Investment Management Fund offered at the Gabelli School of Business

Redefining Investment Strategy Education Symposium (RISE) - 2005

Four students from the Gabelli School of Business, Joseph Benoit, William Coolahan, Aaron Kozick, and Stephen Peters, with Dr. Michael Melton, attended the Redefining Investment Strategy Education (R.I.S.E.), the Fifth Annual Global Student Investment Strategy Symposium held at the University of Dayton, Ohio, March 30 – April 1, 2005. R.I.S.E. brings together leading students, faculty and investment professionals in an interactive learning environment to discuss a range of pertinent issues facing investment professionals.

The symposium included keynote presentations by nationally renowned industry professionals as well as various sessions focusing on investment strategies, career strategies, and academic program development related issues; security analysis and portfolio management workshops, and an optimal portfolio competition.

Attending such a national symposium allowed the students at Roger Williams University to share investment strategies with other students from leading universities across the nation. In addition, the success of the SIMF has given Roger Williams University brand recognition.
