Research Interests

Behavioral and physiological ecology of marine mammals and other marine vertebrates

I am an Associate Professor in the Biology and Marine Biology Department at Roger Williams University. My main interests are in marine vertebrates, especially marine mammals. Before coming to RWU, I spent several years at the University of California at Santa Cruz, and Long Marine Laboratory, where I studied northern elephant seals, specifically their diving behavior and physiology and their migratory behavior. To learn more about elephant seals, and to see a live picture of the elephant seal rookery at Año Nuevo, California, visit the Año Nuevo website. Before becoming a marine biologist, I used to be a basketball player, and played for the Brisbane Bullets of the Australian National Basketball League, and the University of Richmond.
