Military Benefits

Beginning Friday, May 1, 2015 at noon, the RWU Colleague system will be unavailable for a short time due to system upgrades. This will mean that you will not be able to register online, access your grades, request transcripts, etc. until the system is reactivated. We anticipate that the Colleague system will be available again by May 11, 2015. We will notify you when the system upgrade is complete and access is restored.

Please submit all requests to registrar@rwu.edu and they will be processed based upon the date of receipt.

To ensure that you are enrolled in the Summer and Fall course(s) of your choice, you are encouraged to register online for courses prior to May 1st. Students who cannot register by May 1st can take advantage of the following options:

  1. Contact your academic advisor who will complete the Summer and/or Fall registration form(s) on your behalf and document your request so SCS can manually enroll you in the course(s). Students who have questions regarding their assigned advisor can contact Mary Cooney at 401-254-4805 or mcooney@rwu.edu.
  2. Register online when the system upgrade is complete and access is restored.

At Roger Williams University, we know that you are juggling a demanding military career and personal life while making time to pursue your educational goals. We’d like to help.

Discounted tuition for you and your family:

As a member of the Armed Forces, you are eligible for a discounted tuition rate. Most military students are eligible for government funding under the Post 9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve or the Reserve Educational Assistance Program. This rate may be applicable to your spouse and family members as well.

Flexible Scheduling for active duty and adult learners:

Roger Williams offers you flexible scheduling based on your deployment and allows you to return to the program. In addition, your tuition gives you access to all of the services, course and program information regularly available to all on-campus students, including academic advisement, use of facilities, student services, access to course schedules, catalogs and more.

The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program):

RWU is a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program and currently offers a total of 15 spots in the program at any one time; spots are not tied to individual majors, schools or colleges of the University.

The institution is required to approve spots to qualified applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. When all 15 spots are being utilized, new spots will be unavailable until one of the students using a spot has graduated or left the institution.

In order to be approved for the program, applicants must:

  1. Already be officially accepted to RWU
  2. Submit an application to the Yellow Ribbon Program using the form below
  3. Submit a copy of a Certificate Eligibility showing 100% eligibility for the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill

Applicants cannot be approved until ALL of these conditions have been met; at this time, we are unable to approve an applicant unless an accompanying Certificate of Eligibility has been submitted. However, if an applicant has been admitted to RWU, a Yellow Ribbon Program application can be submitted without a Certificate of Eligibility, and the applicant will be placed on a waiting list. Once a valid Certificate of Eligibility is submitted, provided that a spot is available and all necessary, valid documents have been submitted a spot will then be approved.
