Roger Williams University's School of Continuing Studies is pleased to offer EMT Basic and Paramedic courses as an introduction to the field of Emergency Medical Services. These courses offer classroom and lab-based education paired with hands-on experience for students entering or rising in the healthcare field. Courses are taught by the professionally trained staffers from American Safety Programs and Training, Inc.

EMT Basic and Paramedic courses are offered in two formats:

  • semester-long, credit-bearing option
  • accelerated, non-credit option

Students in the credit-bearing EMT Basic and EMT Paramedic courses are eligible for Financial Aid and Military Tuition Rates. Credits earned through these courses align well with our Healthcare Administration and Social and Health Services programs, or may be used as general electives toward any other University degree program.

Non-credit EMT Basic and EMT Paramedic courses are offered through the Professional Education Center (PEC) at RWU's School of Continuing Studies. Students who choose this option are eligible for certification through regional and national accrediting boards. The PEC also offers a variety of other EMS courses including CPR and various levels of EMT training.
