Jamaica 2014RWU Honors is looking to graduate Citizen Scholars who know the value of putting knowledge to work in service to others and who learn from and with the communities they serve

Members of the University Honors Program bond with fellow Honors students and local and global communities through self-directed community engagement projects, faculty-led service trips, alternative spring break, and/or course-based service projects.

The Honors commitment to engagement goes beyond volunteering. Students are asked to participate in critical service learning opportunities, working alongside members of the communities they serve. They reflect on the nature of their service and seek to understand the complexities of service.

Recent trips include working in New Orleans, Jamaica, South America, and Tanzania. In addition, Honors students have worked with local groups like SAGERI's Housing Subcommittee and the Environmental Justice League of Rhode Island through course-based service projects.
