Florence - Summer Program

OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS

Courses at the institute are taught in the American liberal arts tradition and follow a semester calendar with a 15-week fall session, a 15-week spring session, and a 5-week summer session.  Except in Italian language courses, all instruction is in English. No prior study of Italian is required, but all students can enroll in an Italian course at their appropriate level. In the summer session, students may enroll for 3 or 6 credits, or if they elect to take Italian, 4 or 7 credits.

Course Prerequisites:

  • 2.75 GPA
  • Judicial Check
  • Advisor approval

Credits: 3 or 6 credits or if student takes Italian language - 4 or 7 credits

Courses
The Institute offers courses in a wide range of subjects including art and art history, history and political science, literature, Italian studies, international business and interdisciplinary studies in the humanities. Courses are designed to integrate the local resources and immerse students into the Florentine environment through on-site learning. A variety of co-curricular activities including field trips, museum visits, academic tours, and artistic performances complement the rich cultural offerings.
