Program Description
During this 10-day course, students will be introduced to the art and challenges of putting the world "on paper" both verbally and visually, and in doing so will gain an understanding of representing a place and its people ethically. The course will develop students' fluency in communicating in a global context.
Working in teams and individually, students will develop a multimedia blog that documents their observations and experiences while in Dublin. They will have an opportunity to talk with Irish journalists, poets, musicians, historians and government officials and will visit such important sites as Dublin Castle, the General Post Office, Kilmainham Gaol, and the National Gallery among others.
Students will work closely with a professional photographer who lives and works in Dublin; with Professor Mele on writing blogs; and with Professor O'Connell on creating thematic sound slides.
