In accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), students with documented disabilities will not be discriminated against on the basis of their disability. Student with documented disabilities at Roger Williams University share the same obligations and responsibilities to meet the University's standards as do all other students.
The Application Process for Students with Documented Disabilities
There is no separate application process for students with documented disabilities at Roger Williams University. The University provides coordinated services for qualified students with documented disabilities for which there is no application process. Students with documented disabilities who anticipate utilizing accommodations, adjustments or auxiliary aids are encouraged to submit documentation to the Learning Specialist in a timely fashion soon after acceptance to the University.
Learning Strategies and Study Skills Assistance
All undergraduate students at Roger Williams University, including those with documented disabilities, have full access to the tutorial services of the Writing, Math and Core Tutoring Centers located on the second floor of the Library. Students with documented learning disabilities are encouraged to incorporate tutorial sessions in Writing, Math and Core courses into their weekly schedule. In addition, students with documented disabilities may also self-select to meet regularly with the Learning Specialist to discuss time management, organization and the implementation of learning strategies that complement their individual learning style.
