    University Advising Center

The University Advising Center guides and empowers students to make sound decisions about their education, as well as their professional and personal development. The University Advising Center supplements and complements the faculty advising system. We serve undecided first-year students or any student who is searching for a new major.

    Who we are

A staff of full-time professional academic advisors teaches students to take responsibility for their academic progress, helps students develop independent thinking skills and encourages students to view course work within the context of life and career planning. Advisors understand the importance of individual interests, potential and values when deciding on a major.

Advisors meet with their advisees for the first time at the beginning of the academic year. At that time, students are introduced to the advising process and learn how to plan an appropriate academic schedule for their second semester at Roger Williams. Students continue to see the same advisor until a decision is made regarding their choice of major. After they have chosen a major, the student begins to work closely with her or his assigned faculty advisor. Students are welcome to continue using the services of the University Advising Center after they declare a major.
