The University Advising Center works with deciding students, and students in transition. Transitioning students are those students who discover they have chosen the wrong major, and need guidance in selecting a new one. Academic advising supports students in the exploration and development of educational and career goals while promoting student responsibility in the decision-making process. At the University Advising Center, professional and peer advisors guide and support students in the decision making process regarding choice of major and career exploration.
We believe there is a strong relationship between educational and career goals. We are therefore proactive in helping students explore this relationship for themselves. Understanding the value and usefulness of the undergraduate degree in today’s economy is integral to choosing an academic program.
Based on students’ individual circumstances, personal development and skills, advisors provide information and support and foster a sense of responsibility in students to achieve their own goals.
