Clery Reporting Crime

For the purpose of complying with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, campus security authority is defined as (1) a campus law enforcement unit; (2) an individual or organization specified in an institution's statement of campus security policy as the individual or organization to whom students and employees should report criminal offenses; and (3) an official of an institution who has significant responsibility for student and campus activities, but does not have significant counseling responsibilities.

Those officials at Roger Williams University who have significant responsibility for student and campus activities, but do not have significant counseling responsibilities, include:

• Members of the Roger Williams University Department of Public Safety.
• Academic Deans who do not have significant counseling responsibilities other than those that are academic in nature.
• Directors in the organizational area under the Dean of Student Affairs with significant responsibility for student and campus activities, typically the Dean of Student Affairs and the Directors of Student Activities and Student Life.
• Directors in the organizational area of Human Resources with significant responsibility for employment and employee relations.

The University implements a confidential reporting system, if warranted, for the purpose of recording annual crime statistics. Counselors, at the time of in-take with the victim, routinely discuss Judicial/Administrative options that include University Public Safety, Police and Judicial Affairs.
