How To Address Mail

Mail with Proper and Correct address format and content has less of a chance of being delayed.

Let's look at some examples of how we should address mail:

Campus Mail

Campus mailing is very basic. Using an appropriate campus inter-office mail envelope, follow this simple layout:

  • Recipient's Name
  • Department Name
  • Building Name

U.S. Mail

  • RECIPIENT'S NAME
  • COMPANY NAME
  • STREET ADDRESS
  • CITY, STATE ZIP-CODE

International Mail

The bottom line of a foreign address should show only the country name, written in full.

Do not place postal codes of foreign designations on the line of the address.

Student Mail

  • Student's Name - Student (including middle initial)

Incoming Student Mail

  • STUDENT'S NAME - STUDENT
  • ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY
  • ONE OLD FERRY ROAD
  • BRISTOL RI 02809-2921
