Seasoned attorney and higher education administrator Richard Hale joined Roger Williams University in 2012 immediately following a seven-year term at Rowan University in New Jersey, where he held the role of general counsel and, previously, vice president for administration and finance.
Prior to joining Rowan, Mr. Hale served as a senior-level administrator at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and spent more than a decade operating his own law firm and working as a consultant in higher education management. He also served as assistant chancellor for the New Jersey Department of Higher Education and was an assistant dean of graduate studies and instructor in political science at the State University of New York.
As senior advisor to the president, Mr. Hale is responsible for a variety of special projects including, among other responsibilities, participating in collective negotiations, developing institutional policies and procedures, reviewing operations and undertaking assigned personnel actions.
A graduate of Brown University and of the Vanderbilt University School of Law, Mr. Hale started his legal career in Providence, R.I., in 1968, working as an associate with Hinckley, Allen, Salisbury and Partners.
