When Board of Trustees Chairman Richard L. Bready announced the selection of the 10th President of Roger Williams in March 2011, he noted that the Search Committee’s responsibility “was not just to pick any qualified leader, but to select the right leader for the future of our institution.”
For Roger Williams University, Donald J. Farish made that choice abundantly clear. Every single university constituency overwhelmingly advocated for the selection of Dr. Farish and, in the end, the Search Committee chose the President unanimously.
More than anything, the consensus that emerged illustrates that the University community and our new president share a similar set of values – a focus on student-centered undergraduate education; an emphasis on connections to the greater community; participatory discourse and decision-making.
As the RWU community prepares to inaugurate Dr. Farish in October, the pages in this section offer additional details on the University, our new president and the Inauguration Committee that has crafted an agenda that will capture the spirit of those shared values and encourage the entire University to unite in celebration.
