Biography of Roy J. Nirschel, Ph.D., President
President Nirschel was appointed President of Roger Williams University on June 25, 2001 and assumed the Presidency August 1.
Prior to joining Roger Williams University he was President of Newbury College in Brookline, Massachusetts since June 1998. Dr. Nirschel served as Vice President for University Advancement at the University of Miami from 1991 to 1998.
While at the University of Miami, he established an international advisory board, created a public relations council of chief communications professionals and a President's Council. His previous positions also include Assistant Vice President and Director of Development and Alumni Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh and Director of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Hartford.
Dr. Nirschel earned a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Miami and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Connecticut State. He is active in numerous civic and cultural organizations.
