Introduction
The Roger Williams University Web and Electronic Communications policies & procedures seek to establish standards & guidelines that will:
- Support the vision, mission, goals, and traditional core values of the university;
- Assist university constituents throughout the various areas of the lifecycle of a web site(s) in the University web space and help them comply with internet and university guidelines, policies, rules, and regulations, and local, State, and Federal laws;
- Help to facilitate and optimize the official processes and procedures of business of the University through the use of appropriate online transactions;
To Whom Do They Apply?
The Web and Electronic Communications policies & procedures apply to:
- http://www.rwu.edu, the official web site of Roger Williams University and all web pages within its domain web space.
- University sites outside of the rwu.edu domain space using approved RWU trademarks in their domain names or page content.
- Faculty, staff, and student pages on servers connected to the Roger Williams University web space network.
- Web pages prepared for any organization or activity receiving university funds, or with funds maintained by Roger Williams University, excluding agency affiliates

Policy Violations
Violations of university policy on web pages may result in restricted access to university computing resources; removal from menu pages, indexes, and search results in the Roger Williams University Web Space; and/or removal from the server pending appeals, disciplinary, or legal procedures, according to the violation. Submit any questions regarding apparent violation of policy or law to webmaster@rwu.edu.
Policy Review
To quickly respond to new issues and changes in technology, these policy may need to be updated by an expedited review process.
Under this process, proposed changes to web policy will be reviewed and approved by the Web Advisory Committee and presented to ITPS Committee for comment, subjected to legal review, and recommended to the President for approval.
